Mary J. Blackmon



LANCASTER, SC:::::Mrs. Mary Jenkins Lucas Blackmon, age 88, passed away Monday, January 30, 2017 at Springs Memorial Hospital. She was born April 9, 1928 in Chesterfield County, a daughter of the late Raymond Jenkins and Janie Jones Jenkins and was the wife of the late Clifton Lucas. Mrs. Blackmon worked for Springs Industries for many years. She was a dedicated caregiver to her daughter, Karen and enjoyed cooking, playing bingo and watching westerns. She was of the Baptist faith.

Mrs. Blackmon is survived by her children, Clifford Melvin Lucas of Lancaster, Richard Lynn Lucas and his wife, Sarah of Kershaw, Shirlene Hinson and her husband, Nolan also of Kershaw and Patricia Gail Belk and her husband, William of Catawba; a brother, Billy Ray Jenkins and a sister, Clara J. Moore and her husband, Bobby all of Lancaster; 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Blackmon was preceded in death by a daughter, Karen Adams; three brothers, Emsley Jenkins, Robert Jenkins and Connie Jenkins; and a sister, Ruth Gardner.
The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mrs. Blackmon will be 3:00 pm, Friday, February 3, 2017 at The Chapel of Burgess Funeral Home by Rev. Jackie Jenkins. Burial will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends one hour before the service, from 2:00 - 3:00 pm, at Burgess Funeral Home and suggest memorial contributions be made to the American Liver Foundation, 39 Broadway, Suite 2700, New York, NY 10006 or to a Charity of your choice.
