John Henry Goodman



LANCASTER, SC:::::::::: Mr. John Henry Goodman, age 89, died Monday, April 24, 2017 at Palmetto Richland Hospital in Columbia. He was born June 15, 1927 in Portsmouth, Virginia, a son of the late Daniel and Mary Goodman and was the husband of the late Mattie Plyler Goodman. Mr. Goodman retired from the United States Army after more than twenty years of service and was a Korean War Veteran. Following his military retirement, he was employed with Springs Industries as a security guard. Mr. Goodman was a lifetime member of the American Legion and was a member of Camp Creek Baptist Church.

Mr. Goodman is survived by a daughter, Kathy Faulkenberry and her husband, Rick of Lancaster; a son, Wayne Goodman and his wife, Sharon of Rock Hill; five grandchildren, Penny F. Faulkenberry and her husband, Cecil, Brian Faulkenberry and his wife, Jessica, Kevin Faulkenberry and his wife, Katherine, Chris Goodman and Lesslie Pursley and her husband, Matt; and eleven great grandchildren, Jordan Sellers, Carson Faulkenberry, Skylar Faulkenberry, Katelyn Sellers, Jessica Faulkenberry, Grant Pursley, Mattie Brooke Pursley, Grace Denham, Rylan Medlin, Elijah Medlin and Brendan Medlin.

The Celebration of Life Graveside Funeral Service for Mr. Goodman will be 11:00 am, Thursday, April 27, 2017 at Camp Creek Baptist Church Cemetery by Rev. Jessie Adams and Rev. Bobby Joyner with full military honors.

The family will receive friends following the service in the fellowship hall and other times at the home of Kathy and Rick Faulkenberry. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to High Point Baptist Church Missions, 1888 Rocky River Road, Lancaster, SC 29720 or First A.R.P.
