William Robert "Bobby" Melton



LANCASTER, SC - Mr. William Robert “Bobby” Melton, age 70, passed away Sunday, July 9, 2017 surrounded by his family at his home. He was born July 25, 1946 in Lancaster, a son of the late Nathan William Melton and Gladys Louise Roberts Melton and was the husband of Dimple Dianne Stockman Melton. Mr. Melton enjoyed RV camping, visiting friends and church members, socializing and never met a stranger and loved his family dearly. He served 3 years in the United States Navy. Mr. Melton was a member at Eastside Baptist Church, where he served as Deacon, Director of Brotherhood and as a Sunday School teacher. He was very strong in his faith and loved witnessing to others.

Mr. Melton is survived by his wife of 52 years, Dianne Melton; a daughter, Debbie Melton Jenkins; three grandchildren, Jason Melton, Brett Jenkins, and Austin Melton; two great grandchildren, Bayleigh Melton and William Robbie “Will” Melton; a sister, Gail Melton Starnes and her husband, Curtis of Gaffney; and his very best friend of many years, Jim Campbell.

Mr. Melton was preceded in death by his parents; and a son, William Robert “Robbie” Melton, Jr.

The Celebration of Life Service for Mr. Melton will be 2:00 pm, Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at Eastside Baptist Church by Rev. Eric Plyler, Rev. Donnie Tillman, and Rev. Curtis Cameron. The family will hold a private burial at a later date.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 -2:00 pm Wednesday in the church fellowship hall prior to the service and suggest memorial contributions be made to Eastside Baptist Church Brotherhood Ministry, 1180 Garnette Road, Lancaster, SC 29720.
