Myrtle Hinson Roberts



Lancaster ~ Mrs. Myrtle Hinson Roberts, age 92, died Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill. She was born September 7, 1924 in Lancaster, the daughter of the late Marion Croxton Hinson and Delie Blackmon Hinson and was the wife of the late John Clayton Roberts. Mrs. Roberts was the owner/operator of Clayton Roberts Grocery. She loved gardening, baking and crocheting afghans that she shared with her family and friends. She was known for her ten layer chocolate cakes and was a member of High Point Baptist Church.

Mrs. Roberts is survived by a son, Jerry Roberts; a daughter-in-law, Emmagene Roberts; a brother, Bruce Hinson and his wife, Connie, all of Lancaster; three grandchildren, Joni Roberts Harrison (Josh), Matthew Roberts, and Allison Roberts Prevatte (Scott); and seven great grandchildren, Jake Harrison, Hunter, Madyson and Christopher Roberts, and Lana, Willow and Skylar Prevatte.

Mrs. Roberts was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Jimmy Roberts, and a brother, Wade Hinson.

The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mrs. Roberts will be 3:00 pm, Thursday, July 27, 2017 at The Chapel of Burgess Funeral Home by Dr. Ron Wilson. Burial will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends prior to the service, from 2:00 – 3:00 pm, at the funeral home and suggest memorial contributions be made to High Point Baptist Church, 1888 Rocky River Road, Lancaster, SC 29720 or Shiloh A.R.P. Church, 346 Shiloh Unity Road, Lancaster, SC 29720
