Emily Joyce Ghent Cooper



LANCASTER, SC ~ Mrs. Emily Joyce Ghent Cooper, age 75, died Friday, August 4, 2017 at her home. She was born February 24, 1942 in Lancaster, a daughter of the late Joseph Emanuel Ghent and Martha Ellen Cauthen Ghent and was the wife of Rudolph Plowden Cooper. Mrs. Cooper loved to cook and used her cooking skills while working with Springs Industries and the Lancaster County School District. She was also a skilled seamstress and loved planning and decorating for the holidays, especially Christmas. She loved her family very much, her sister and brothers and especially her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a member of Shiloh A.R.P. Church.

Mrs. Cooper is survived by her husband, R.P. Cooper; children, Melissa Ellen ‘Lisa’ Farrar and her husband, Charles William ‘Bill’ Farrar II and Julie Lynn Staub and her husband, Jeffrey Leopold Staub; grandchildren, Robert Jason Leaphart and his wife, Emily, Jennifer Leaphart Heath and her husband, Mike, Morgan Elissa Farrar, Trey Joseph Staub, Tanner Richard Staub, Theron Emily Staub, and Ty Jeffrey Staub; great grandchildren, Logan Matthew Leaphart, Stephen Brayden Carnes, Makayla Brynn Carnes and Grace Ellen Leaphart; a sister, Martha G. Walden and her husband, Charles; and three brothers, Wade C. Ghent and his wife, Maureen, Hazel E. Ghent and his wife, Terri and Ronald D. Ghent and his wife, Gay.

Mrs. Cooper was preceded in death by her parents; a grandchild, Alex Drew Leaphart and a brother, Norman Ghent.
The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mrs. Cooper will be 11:00 am Monday, August 7, 2017 at Shiloh A.R.P. Church by Rev. Wayne Dickson with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour before the service, from 10:00 - 11:00 am, in the church fellowship hall and suggest memorial contributions be made to the Catawba Community Mental Health Center, 448 Lakeshore Parkway, Suite 205, Rock Hill SC 29730.
