Alfred Algimantas Orentas



INDIAN LAND, SC - Mr. Alfred Algimantas Orentas, age 79, passed away Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at Carolinas Medical Center. He was born April 26,1938 in Dainiai, Lithuania, a son of the late Augustas Orentas and Martha Chesna Orentas and is the husband of Daiva Rutka Orentas. Mr. Orentas immigrated to Chicago in 1949 and earned his MS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois. Mr. Orentas loved plants, bird watching and enjoyed playing tennis. He loved life and socializing with friends and family. He was fond of family games, and loved interpreting the rules, and then creating house rules. Mr. Orentas was a Gideon and life-long Lutheran. He was a member of All Saints Lutheran Church in Charlotte, NC and was very involved in Campus Ministry. Mr. Orentas loved sharing the Gospel of his Savior, Jesus Christ.

Mr. Orentas is survived by his wife, Daiva Rutka Orentas; a son, Dr. Rimas Orentas and his wife, Dr. Pamela Collins; two daughters, Dr. Diana Orentas Lein and her husband, Dr. Edward Lein, and Ingrid Lulich and her husband, Lawrence Lulich. He was a proud grandfather of five grandsons; Joseph Orentas, Paul Orentas, Jack Lulich, Benjamin Lulich, and Christopher Lein. He is survived by two sisters, Zenta Berghofer and her husband, Robert Berghofer and Ingrid Orentas.

Mr. Orentas was a widower to Anita Medeishis Orentas and also preceded in death by his parents.

The Celebration of Life Service for Mr. Orentas will be 3:00 pm, Sunday, January 14, 2018 at All Saints Lutheran Church, 17030 Lancaster Hwy., Charlotte, NC by Rev. Jeffrey W. Ware. The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 3:00 pm, one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to All Saints Lutheran Church, 17030 Lancaster Hwy, Charlotte, NC 28277 or to Fort Mill Camp of the Gideons International, P.O. Box 314, Fort Mill, SC 29716.

An additional family service prior to internment will occur at the Damar-Kaminski Funeral Home in Justice, IL on Saturday, January 20, 2018, where he will be laid to rest by his parents.
