Obituary

FORT LAWN, SC ~ Mrs. Irene Crawford Yongue, 94, passed away Friday, April 13, 2018 at Springs Memorial Hospital. She was born July 3, 1923 in Fort Lawn, a daughter of the late John Oates Crawford and Maurice Gardner Crawford and was the wife of the late Paul Gladney Yongue. She loved gardening, sewing, crocheting and baking. She enjoyed taking care of young children and family was always important to her. Mrs. Yongue was a member of Fort Lawn Presbyterian Church where she taught Sunday School.

Mrs. Yongue is survived by a daughter, Paulette Yongue Wieland and her husband, Charles “Butch” Wieland of Great Falls; four grandchildren, Mitchell Keith Branham (Kelly) of Atlanta, GA, Mildred Juline Wieland and Dan Popoff of Lancaster, Terry Branham (Karen) of Chesnee, and Dean Elizabeth Wieland Pennington also of Chesnee; seven great grandchildren, Paige Lawson (Ryan), Paul Jacob Branham, Becca Branham, Hannah Branham, Lauren Pennington, Baylee Popoff and Alex Popoff; a sister, Glenda Lou Crawford Allen of Catawba, SC; a brother, Davis Lee “Bud” Crawford (Ann) of Rodman, SC and many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Yongue was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Rebecca Irene Yongue Branham and her late husband, Fred Branham; five brothers, Charles Crawford, J. O. Crawford, Jr., William “Bill” Crawford, Leonard Crawford and Lewis Crawford; and one sister, Mary Crawford Steele.

The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mrs. Yongue will be 3:00 pm Tuesday, April 17, 2018 in The Chapel of Burgess Funeral Home by Rev. John Rumford. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Fort Lawn.

The family will receive friends from 2:00-3:00 pm, Tuesday, one hour before the service, at Burgess Funeral Home and suggest in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Fort Lawn Presbyterian Church, 3 Lynn Lane, Great Falls, SC 29055.
