Staff members of Burgess Funeral Home & Crematory are caring and experienced professionals who understand that each family is unique and has personal requests and traditions. These requests and traditions are of utmost importance to our staff of licensed funeral directors and funeral assistants.
Michael and Casey, both born and raised in Lancaster believe strongly in service to their community. Michael, licensed Funeral Director/Embalmer has served families with Burgess Funeral Home since 1999, while his wife Casey, has taught many students at North Elementary School.
Michael and Casey are both very active in their community and church. They are active members of High Point Baptist Church where Michael serves as a Deacon. Michael is also a Past Master of Masonic Lodge # 316, and a board member for the Lancaster Chamber of Commerce.
Evelyn is the General Manager for the firm and handles the day to day operations. She is a Licensed Funeral Director and Pre-need Consultant. Evelyn is a graduate of the University of South Carolina with Highest Honors. She is a member of the Women of the Moose, the Lancaster Shag Club and Liberty Hill Presbyterian Church.
Barbara joined our firm in November, 2014 as a Funeral Director Apprentice. She assists with the day to day handling of the business office. She is a graduate of The University of South Carolina with a Master’s Degree in Library and Informational Science. She retired after 38 years in education from the Chesterfield County School District, as a Media Specialist for Central High School. She is a member of Second Baptist Church, a member of the Lancaster Women of of the Moose, and the Lancaster Shag Club.
Barbara also manages Burgess Memorials and assists families in designing and purchasing cemetery monuments and markers. She has two daughters, Allison Wallace and Christy Hendrix and her husband Davey, and has four grandchildren, Andrew Wallace, Abby, Austin, and Kinsleigh Hendrix.
David serves the firm as our Senior Funeral Assistant and is pursuing his Associate in Business Major in Funeral Services Degree from Piedmont Technical College. He is dedicated to offering every family we serve the utmost in compassion and professionalism.
David is married to Janet Metzler and they have one daughter, Jessica. David serves on the School Board for the Carolina Christian Academy; and he and his family are members of Fellowship Bible Church where he serves as a Deacon.
Billy serves the firm as our Funeral Assistant. He is dedicated to offering every family we serve the utmost in compassion and professionalism.
Billy is married to Wendy P. Snipes and they have two children, Taylor and Bryson. Billy and his family are members of Pleasant Plains Baptist Church.
Randall works part time with the firm as a Funeral Assistant and Crematory Supervisor. He is dedicated to offering every family we serve the utmost in compassion and professionalism.
Randall is a retiree of Duke Energy and a member of Pleasant Dale Baptist Church.
Randall and Teresa work closely with our families during evening visitations. They help manage and provide a comfortable and efficient atmosphere for our families and their guests by taking care of any needs that may arise during these public visitation times. Teresa also works as a Funeral Assistant.
Teresa and Randall have a daughter and son in law, Dana and David Garris and a grandson, Dillon Garris. They are members of Pleasant Dale Baptist Church.
Funeral Director Apprentice
Harold serves as a Part Time Funeral Assistant and is dedicated to providing the upmost in compassion and care to our families.
Harold and his wife Jean also help manage night visitations. They work to provide a comfortable and efficient atmosphere for our families and their guests by taking care of any needs that may arise during these public visitation times.
Harold and Jean have two children and are members of Calvary Baptist Church.
Terry Marshall is married to Sylvia C. Marshall. They have two daughters, Staci and Bridget, and three grandchildren. Terry and Sylvia are members of Second Baptist Church. He is co-owner of Total Control Power Club in Elgin. Terry also served in the United States Army and retired after 34 years of service.
