Peggy Roddey Wilson



LANCASTER, SC ~ Mrs. Peggy Roddey Wilson, age 86, died Friday, December 29, 2017 at her home. She was born August 2, 1931, the daughter of the late Henry Grady Roddey and Mary Bell McWaters Roddey. Mrs. Wilson was married for 57 years to her true love, the late Douglas Marcellous Wilson. She was a homemaker and later in life, became a teacher’s assistant at Indian Land Elementary School. Mrs. Wilson was a very good cook and enjoyed birdwatching and always made sure feed was in the feeders. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Mrs. Wilson loved Jesus, her children and grandchildren, and her church. She was so blessed to be in her own home and was very well taken care of. Mrs. Wilson was a member of Belair United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Wilson is survived by two sons, Tim D. Wilson and Randy A. Wilson and his wife, Lisa of McDonough, GA; two daughters, Kathy M. Wilson (fiancé, Dale Jordan) and Phyllis A. Patton (Robert); four grandchildren, Robb Patton (Mitzi), Jared Wilson, Matthew Wilson and Riley Wilson; three great grandchildren, Brynn Patton, Kristin Patton and Hunter Thomas Wilson; and two sisters, Helen Lewis Carter (Jay) and Nanci Zeigler.
Mrs. Wilson was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a grandson, Steven D. Patton; three brothers, Wilbur Roddey, Roy Roddey and Hugh Roddey; and a sister, Ruth Ballington.
The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mrs. Wilson will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at Belair United Methodist Church by Rev. Mallory Forte. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour before the service, from 1:00 – 2:00 pm, in Belair Family Life Center and suggest memorial contributions be made to Belair United Methodist Church, 8095 Shelley Mullis Road, Indian Land, SC 29707.
