Michael Braden Appleby



LANCASTER, SC ~ Mr. Michael Braden Appleby, age 77, passed away Friday, January 19, 2018 at Carolinas Medical Center-Pineville. He was born December 20, 1940 in Washington, DC, the son of the late Robert Braden Appleby and Mildred Williams Appleby. He is the husband of Carolyn Callison Appleby. He graduated from the University of Maryland and served in the United States Marine Corp. Before retiring, he was employed with various companies in data processing. Mr. Appleby was a member of the Sons of the American Revolution, the Ancient Order of Hibernians and the Knights of Columbus. He was a family man with a strong Catholic Faith, and a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. Mr. Appleby was an avid reader who loved history and genealogy. He also enjoyed Irish music, brain games, baking and bowling.

Mr. Appleby is survived by his wife of 54 years, Carolyn; a son, Michael Wayne Appleby and his wife, Jennifer; a daughter, Jeanette Marie Wenger, and her husband, Michael, all of Charlotte; seven grandchildren, Bethany Ann Wolfe, Calvin Michael Wenger, Lucas Braden Wenger, Adam Joshua Wenger, Cecilia Marie Wenger, Camille Lane Appleby and Chloe Reece Appleby; and a sister, Janice Hurley and her husband, John, of Carlisle, PA; many nieces and nephews, and great nieces and great nephews.

Mr. Appleby was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Robert Paul Appleby.

The Funeral Mass for Mr. Appleby will be 12:00 pm, Monday, January 29, 2018 at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church.
