I don’t know where to begin to tell you how much Tuggie meant to me. I was right out of high school when I became her secretary in the Education Dept at Springs memorial hospital. She longed for me to get a higher education and I did! Got my RN degree! She became more to me than just a supervisor- a friend, counselor, encourager and much more! She gave my firstborn a handkerchief that she kept through her pregnancies. I will never forget the Chipmunks talent show that we(her department ) did at Christmas and we won first place. She protrayed David and I was Alvin. Good days! I would have been at her funeral if I had know. Just accidentally ran across obituary just now. As her secretary I remember typing a book or something for one of her sons. She let me and my family go to her beach home one summer. Gosh I could go on and on. I just asked my husband a few weeks ago wondering if Tuggie was still living. I loved her and I look back in my life and know she was the first one to place the love of nursing in my heart. She put me in a CPR instructor class while I was her secretary and taught CPR to nurses st the hospital. She spoke of her children often to me. She was a blessing to me and I will see her again!

I was saddened by the death of your mother. Even though I have not seen Tuggie in some time, memory after memory floods my mine of the friendship that we had for those many years. Cherish the love and respect that Tuggie enjoyed personally and professionally in her long career. Love to all, Dr. Pierce Horton (Stompy)
