Ida Marshall Ellis



HEATH SPRINGS, SC ~ Mrs. Ida Mae Marshall Ellis, age 98, passed away Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at her home. She was born April 1, 1920 in Lancaster, a daughter of the late Samuel Marshall and Cora Baker Marshall and was the wife of the late Olin Manley Ellis. Mrs. Ellis was a seamstress, enjoyed crocheting and cross stitching. She was a wonderful cook, loved to bake, can and work in her flowers. Her family was very important to her; she loved them deeply, especially her grandchildren. Mrs. Ellis was a member of Rich Hill Baptist Church. She was very close to her Sunday School class, was a member of the Sophia Nichols Missions Group and the Golden Agers.

Mrs. Ellis is survived by her children, Marshall Olin Ellis, James Kenneth Ellis, both of Heath Springs, Sharon Kay Ellis of Lancaster and Glenda Ellis Phillips and her husband, Kerry also of Heath Springs; two grandchildren, Mark Phillips and Sara Phillips; a brother, Samuel Marshall, Jr. and his wife, Frances of Lancaster; and three sisters, Elizabeth Harper of Lancaster, Gladys Moore of Aiken and Sara Joyce Griffin of Indian Land.

Mrs. Ellis was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three brothers, George Marshall, Boyce Marshall and Frank Marshall and three sisters, Kathleen Harper, Myrtle Hagins and Robbie White.

The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mrs. Ellis will be 11:00 am Thursday, June 21, 2018 at Rich Hill Baptist Church by Rev. Rod Yow and Dr. Kenneth Lance. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 pm Wednesday evening, June 20, 2018 at Burgess Funeral Home and suggest memorial contributions be made to Rich Hill Baptist Church, 1557 E.
