LANCASTER, SC ~ Mrs. Edith Blackwell Threatt, 83, passed away Thursday, August 23, 2018 at White Oak Manor. She was born in Chesterfield, SC, a daughter of the late William Buford Blackwell and Faye McNeely Blackwell and the wife of the late Zane Maxwell Threatt. Mrs. Threatt was a resident of Lancaster for most of her eighty-three years. She was proud of her hometown and its history. She loved reminiscing about the “good old days” and in her later years enjoyed riding around town revisiting historic landmarks. A thirty-four-year retiree, she always spoke fondly of her time at the Department of Social Services and treasured the relationships established there.

As a mother of three girls, what she enjoyed most of all was spending time with family. Among her favorite pastimes were listening to music, shopping outings with the girls and bragging on her many grandchildren. She also enjoyed spending time at the coast and told numerous stories about the years spent there and friendships made at Springmaid Beach.

Mrs. Threatt is survived by two daughters, Kathy Stepp (Robbie) of Lancaster, Jan Faile (Monty) of Blythewood, SC; a son-in-law, Tony Neely; five grandchildren, Meredith N. Kirk (David), Lindsay S. Hough (Robert), Jamie Stepp, Maxwell Faile (Sarai) and Taylor Faile; and eight great grandchildren.

Mrs. Threatt was preceded in death by her husband, Zane M. Threatt; her parents; a daughter, Karen T. Neely; three brothers, Nay Blackwell, Clyde Blackwell and Harold Blackwell; and five sisters, Kerried Miller, Myrtis Laney, Bennie Blume, Bronna Ackerman and Ottie Stogner.

The Celebration of Life Service for Mrs. Threatt will be 3:00 pm Saturday, August 25, 2018 at The Chapel of Burgess Funeral Home by Dr. Brian Saxon. The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm, one hour prior to the service, at Burgess Funeral Home and following the entombment at Lancaster Memorial Park Mausoleum. Memorial contributions may be made to Zion United Methodist Church, 1665 Zion Rd., Lancaster, SC 29720 or the Matt Blackwell Foundation, PO Box 188, Lancaster, SC 29721.

The family is very appreciative of the loving care that Mrs. Threatt received at White Oak Manor of Lancaster.
