Grady P. Robinson



LANCASTER, SC ~ Mr. Grady Patterson Robinson, 94, passed away at his home Monday, September 17, 2018. He was born October 3, 1923 in Lancaster, a son of the late Edgar Lathan Robinson, Sr. and Cora Elizabeth Walkup Robinson. He was the husband of the late Nancy Craig Robinson. Mr. Robinson served our country in the Army Air Corp during World War II. He was a 1947 graduate of Clemson University with a degree in textiles. He retired from Springs Industries having served as plant manager for the Lancaster Plant and the Elliott Plant. He loved gardening and taking care of his yard; but his passion was HAM Radio. He tested and confirmed new people to get their radio license. He was an avid football fan, especially Clemson, and was a member of IPTAY for over forty years. Mr. Robinson was a lifetime member of Shiloh A.R.P. Church where he served as Elder, Sunday School teacher and in many other capacities.
Mr. Robinson is survived by a son, Craig Robinson and his wife, Shirley of Lancaster; a daughter, Pat Shaw and her husband, Steve of Orlando, FL; four grandchildren, Kevin Shaw (Lisa), Katie Wallace (Dennis), Crissy Davis (Michael) and Brandy Cranney (Brian); five great grandchildren; a brother, Dan Robinson and his wife, Koko of Lancaster and a sister in law, Catherine Cannon also of Lancaster.
Mr. Robinson was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Nancy Craig Robinson; three brothers, Earl Robinson, Sam Robinson, and Edgar Robinson, Jr. and two sisters, Frances Robinson and Sara Caskey.
The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mr. Robinson will be 11:00 am Thursday, September 20, 2018 at Shiloh A.R.P. Church by Rev. Mark Miller. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 7:30 pm Wednesday evening, September 19, 2018 at Burgess Funeral Home and suggest memorial contributions be made to Shiloh A.R.P. Church, 346 Shiloh Unity Road, Lancaster, SC 29720.
