Ruth Robinson Roddey



LANCASTER, SC ~ Mrs. Ruth Robinson Roddey, age 99, passed away Saturday, September 22, 2018 at White Oak Manor. She was born January 27, 1919 in Lancaster, a daughter of the late John Alexander Robinson and Ida Baker Robinson and was the wife of the late William Thomas Roddey. Mrs. Roddey was employed with JP Stevens in Great Falls, SC for over 40 years. She enjoyed crocheting, working with puzzles, cooking for her family, and Senior Circle church trips. Mrs. Roddey was a member of High Point Freewill Baptist Church.

Mrs. Roddey is survived by two sons, Ron Roddey and his wife, Terry, of Rock Hill and Jerry Roddey of Lancaster; eight grandchchildren; and many great grandchildren.

Mrs. Roddey was preceded in death by her husband, William Thomas Roddey; her parents; four sons, Bill Roddey, Jack Roddey, Larry Roddey, Don Roddey; four daughters, Judy Phillips, Nancy Jane Roddey, Betty McKoin, and Gloria Burnham; several grandchildren; four sisters; and a brother.

The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mrs. Roddey will be 3:00 pm Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at The Chapel of Burgess Funeral Home, 1800 Charlotte Hwy., Lancaster, SC officiated by Rev. Ron Roddey. Burial will follow at Westside City Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 - 3:00 pm, one hour prior to service, Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at Burgess Funeral Home and suggest memorial contributions be made to Cornerstone Baptist Church, 455 Hands Mill Highway, Rock Hill, SC 29732.
