Carey L. "Deda" Dry



LANCASTER, SC ~ Mr. Carey Lawrence Dry “Deda”, age 66, passed away Saturday, November 10, 2018 at his home. He was born February 3, 1952 in Lancaster, a son of Marion Dry and Tracy Day Dry and is the husband of Susan Johnson Dry. Mr. Dry retired from AT&T and was the former co-owner of the Whistling Pig. He is a graduate of USC-Lancaster. He especially enjoyed being outdoors and spending time with his family at their place at the beach in Ocean Lakes Campground. He loved his grandchildren deeply and was a member of Second Baptist Church.
Mr. Dry is survived by his wife, Susan Johnson Dry; his parents, Marion and Tracy Dry; two daughters, Dana Hinson and her husband, Mickey and Magan Faile and her husband, Chase both of Lancaster; three grandchildren, Alli Hinson, Reed Hinson, and Landon Faile; a brother, Laine Dry and his wife, Angie of Lancaster; two sisters, Teresa Dry of Blythewood and Gina Spencer and her husband, Chuck of Ridgeway; and his mother-in-law; Faye Johnson of Lancaster.
Mr. Dry was preceded in death by a grandson, Noland Jase Faile and his father-in-law, Ray Johnson.
The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mr. Dry will be 3:00 pm Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at Sherwood Baptist Church by Rev. Rusty McAllister. Burial will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends one hour before the service, from 2:00 – 3:00 pm, at the church and suggest memorial contributions be made to the Levine Cancer Institute, P.O. Box 32861, Charlotte, NC 28232-2861.
