John Wesley Boykin, Jr.



LANCASTER, SC~ Mr. John Wesley Boykin, Jr., 47, passed away Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at his home. He was born September 1, 1970 in Lancaster, a son of John Wesley Boykin, Sr. and the late Nancy Curtis Boykin. He was married to Wendy Faile Boykin. He earned an Associate Degree in Diesel Mechanics from York Technical College. John retired from Duracell as a Business Lead. He enjoyed camping, going to the beach and the lake, working in his shop, but especially enjoyed family time. John played the saxophone and shared his talent at church, Liberty Freewill Baptist, where he was a member.

John is survived by his wife of 14 years, Wendy Faile Boykin; his father, John W. Boykin, Sr.; a daughter, Hannah Elizabeth Boykin; two sons, Will Jones and his wife, Crystina and Brady Jones; a brother, Kevin Boykin and his wife, Kathy, all of Lancaster; two sisters, Sybil Casper and her husband, David of Monroe and Angie Flynn of Indian Land; five nephews and four nieces.

John was preceded in death by his mother, Nancy Elizabeth Curtis Boykin and his grandparents, William and Willie Mae Boykin and Jacob and Fannie Mae Curtis.

The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for John will be 3:00 pm Friday, February 23, 2018 at Liberty Freewill Baptist Church by Rev. Tim Larrimore and Rev. David E. Casper III. Burial will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 pm Thursday evening, February 22, 2018 at Burgess Funeral Home and suggest memorial contributions be made to Liberty Freewill Baptist Church Building Fund, PO Box 2094, Lancaster, SC 29721.
